As Simbithi Eco-Estate matures into a highly sought after lifestyle estate, so Simbithi Country Club follows closely in its well-established footsteps.
The Club’s 18-hole Executive Course was created by well known golf course designer Peter Matkovitch and since its completion in October 2006 has gone from strength to strength. The course incorporates dams, bunkers and water features and is abundant with wildlife. Being the only 60 par course on the North Coast, Simbithi Golf Course appeals to a full range of handicap golfers and leisure seekers looking to enjoy the estate’s beautiful surroundings.
The course was recently rated 32nd in South Africa by Compleat Golfer magazine. Simbithi received high marks for good use of terrain and excellent construction. Convenor of the judging panel, John Botha said it is unusual for such a new course to get such a high ranking and attributed this to its unique concept, catering for experienced as well as novice players. Compleat Golfer also went on to rate Simbithi as KZN’s best new golf course.
The main Simbithi Clubhouse is at the final design stages with construction planned to commence in January 2009. The completion date is November 2009. Consisting of lounges, a restaurant and bar, this iconic clubhouse will be the heart of Simbithi!
Currently, membership is open to local residents outside Simbithi. The subscription fee per member is R3, 420 a year including green fees and by playing golf once a week, a round will only cost R66.
Wayne Hill, resident golf director said, “Simbithi Country Club will offer you a memorable golfing experience that will test your course management skills as well as every club in your bag”.
The entire course is designed by Peter Matkovitch and will be unique to KwaZulu-Natal, as it will be the only course to offer a truly family golfing experience. According to Peter Matkovitch, the course is designed to test a player’s ability to use all the clubs in their bags on a golf course, which will be constructed in accordance with USGA specifications. The 18-hole course will provide a combination of challenging par 5's and par 3's, and will appeal to the full range of handicap golfers and leisure seekers, whether they are a family on holiday or a resident seeking a few hours of entertainment and exercise.
